Bible Text: Joshua 13:1-5
Memory Verse: “When Joshua had grown old, the LORD said to him, “You are now very old, and there are still very large areas of land to be taken over.” Joshua 13:1, NIV
MESSAGE
A story was told of a man who already in his old age came to register for a programme in the seminary. Not minding his age, he still believed he could achieve something worthwhile in life. He however took a bold step to attain this regardless of his age.
Joshua was the man who succeeded Moses and was the leader who brought the Israelites into the Promised Land.
After about five years of fierce wars, the Lord used him to conquer many famous kings and cities on the West side of Jordan. However, in his old age, the Lord still told him “there are still very large areas of lands to be taken over.” God challenged him to press on in his assignment, because he had not completed it.
God is not limited by our challenges and inabilities. Even when it seems impossible, He is still ready and willing to fulfil that which He had promised concerning us. Let’s keep believing, trusting and keep hope alive regarding His promises for our lives. We must not give in to doubt, or give up on God because He would not give up on us. It is not over until God says it is.
Insight: Your weakness does not stop God from fulfilling His purpose towards you.
Prayer: Lord, help me to finish well and finish strong.
