TOPIC: THE IMMOVABLE KINGDOM
Read: Hebrews 12:26-29
Hebrews 12:26-29 At that time his voice shook the earth, but now he has promised, “Once more I will shake not only the earth but also the heavens.”
The words “once more” indicate the removing of what can be shaken—that is, created things—so that what cannot be shaken may remain.
Therefore, since we are receiving a kingdom that cannot be shaken, let us be thankful, and so worship God acceptably with reverence and awe, for our “God is a consuming fire.”
MEMORISE: They will perish, but you remain; they will all wear out like a garment. Like clothing you will change them and they will be discarded. (Psalms 102:26)
EXPOSITION
The time is drawing closer than ever, when the remaining earthly kingdoms shall be shaken off to give way to God’s eternal, holy Kingdom. Certain kingdoms and people’s have existed here, but are currently no more. They have been shaken off with fire, flood, etc. (Gen.19v24,25,6v13ff).
There have been certain terrible kingdoms, such as the Ancient Babylon, Persia, Greece and Rome that have reigned and are now no more. Why? They were human, sinful, oppressive kingdoms, ruled by wickedness, injustice and terror, and so cannot stand, for God desires an eternal, holy and glorious kingdom.
All earthly kingdoms are like impurities around gold, which must be shaken off for the beauty of the gold to show forth. The entire Mosaic worship system and Jewish estates were shaken off to give rise to the Gospel of Christ. The kingdom of God stands tall among the rest. Though God superintends these other kingdoms, they are not meant to last forever.
Only His Kingdom will be forever (Dan.4v3,7v14, 2 pet.1v11). The Jewish state was not to be permanent. Jesus, the Head of this eternal kingdom, reigns supreme, now and forever. Sin and all things contrary to God are the reason for the removal of these earthly estates. No sinners will go unpunished (Prov.11v21).
To stand and remain forever with Christ, run from Satan, sin, materialism, and all that cause offence. No unrighteousness shall inherit the kingdom of God (1 Cor.6v9,10,Rev.22v15). For you not to be shaken off, return to God and accept the everlasting gospel of Jesus Christ, today. Save yourself from this untoward generation. May we not be shaken off on the last day. Amen.
PRAYER POINTS:
1. Lord, put me back on the right track of holiness and righteousness, so I am not shaken off.
2. O Lord, draw our children and youths to Yourself, now, before the devil wins them over to his nefarious programme.
3. O Lord, shake off the chaff in the leadership of our nation and church, causing avoidable disasters in theses places.
