TOPIC: LIVING LIKE JESUS
Bible Text: 1 John 2:3-6
Memory Verse: “Whoever claims to live in him must live as Jesus did.” 1 John 2:6, NIV
MESSAGE
Just as Christianity teaches and encourages Christians to live like Christ, most religions doctrine teaches their followers to imitate and live like their founder as the path to salvation such as; saying the right prayers, doing the right things, also their way of life should reflect so. They are encouraged to live and have the attribute of who they worship such as; Buddha, Muhammad, Tao or Confucius. But living like Jesus Christ is different in several ways.
According to today’s passage, those that know Christ will keep His commands. Those that obey the Word of God will have the love of God indwelling their hearts in these, they will be made complete in Him. . Followers of Christ are known by the life of Christ they are constantly manifesting. “This is how we know we are in him: Whoever claims to live in him must live as Jesus did.” (vs. 5b-6).
Living like Jesus means to imitate Christ in all ways. Be spiritually awakened so as to here from God the right things to do and do them, accepting what He calls acceptable, wanting what God wants, knowing the right path to follow to desist from ungodly things and completely obey Him without questioning His Authority or grumbling. Until we learn to think and live like Jesus we cannot experience any of these.
Insight: We fail to live like Jesus because we haven’t learned to think the way He thinks.
Prayer: Heavenly father, fill me with the Grace to live and think like Jesus Christ.
