SCRIPTURE UNION DAILY GUIDE DEVOTIONAL FOR FEBRUARY 7, 2023 (EVERYTHING HE DOES IS WONDERFUL)
TOPIC: EVERYTHING HE DOES IS WONDERFUL
Opening Prayer: Lord, I pray that you lead me into your truth as I meditate on your word in Jesus name.
Scripture: Mark 7:24-37
• Q 1: What does the passage teach about God the Father, or God the Son or God the Holy Spirit?
• Q 2: Is there any example for me to follow or not to follow?
How would you have responded to Jesus’ statement in v.27? What do you learn from the woman’s response? Jesus was not necessarily belittling this woman. He may be challenging her faith or conveying that His message was to the Jews first, and then to the Gentiles. Whatever interpretation we may give to Jesus’ statement, the faith of the woman shone so clearly – a challenge to the Jews and to us too.
Today’s passage concentrates on two healing miracles. Take note of the different ways Jesus performed these miracles (vs.29; 33-35). We see that Jesus does not use a common formula to meet our needs. His creative ability is unlimited. We also see in each of these miracles the importance of faith either of the affected person or of the community. Faith in Christ Jesus is extremely important, first for our salvation and then for our day-to-day walk with God. Faith is important whether we are praying individually or corporately.
And so? Jesus charged the people to keep quiet, but they proclaimed Him zealously (v.36). He charges you to proclaim Him. Are you keeping quiet?
• Any new insight or reinforcement of what you already know?
Dear Lord, I thank you because you have done all things well. May I never keep silent but zealously proclaim your goodness and love to all.
