SCRIPTURE UNION DAILY GUIDE DEVOTIONAL FOR APRIL 8, 2023 (STANDING FOR JESUS IN DIFFICULT TIME)
OPENING PRAYER: Plant my steps in the sure promises of your word today, dear Lord.
SCRIPTURE: Mark 15: 40-47
QUESTIONS FOR REFLECTIONS
• Q 2: Is there any example for me to follow or not to follow?
• Q 7: What truth is God revealing to me in this passage?
Identifying with Jesus not only when it is easy but also in times of suffering and difficulty as these women did in vs.40- 41 speaks louder than words can express. They had followed Him during His ministry and stayed with Him through His moments of pain to the point of death. When we begin with him in salvation, we must continue with Him as disciples and remain consistent to the end. We must be ready to identify with Jesus in crisis or difficult moments, even at the risk of our lives and positions.
See what Joseph of Arimathea did in vs.43-45. It is only true disciples who would stand for and defend the cause of Jesus before unbelieving authorities like Joseph Arimathea did. Also note the additional labour of love of Joseph of Arimathea in vs.46-47, an action that provided a clear evidence for Jesus’ resurrection. Are you willing to take responsibility for things that can help to preserve our Christian heritage for the future generation, especially in the face of possible persecution? What valuable things can you give for the preservation and advancement of the cause of Christ?
So what? In what area do you feel God is asking you to stand for Him? Take a decision to do it today.
• Any new insight or reinforcement of what you already know?
Pray for those who are standing for and making sacrifices for the preservation of Christian heritage in your nation or community despite persecution.
