SCRIPTURE UNION DAILY GUIDE DEVOTIONAL FOR APRIL 26, 2023 (COME UP TO THE LORD)
TOPIC: COME UP TO THE LORD
OPENING PRAYER: Let me know more of you today dear Lord as I meditate on your word.
OPENING PRAYER: Exodus 24:1-18
QUESTIONS FOR REFLECTION
• Q 2: Is there any example for me to follow or not to follow?
• Q 3: Is there any command for me to obey?
God summoned Israel’s leaders to come up to Him. God enjoys our fellowship, alone or in groups. This included Moses, Aaron and his sons (priests), with 70 others. But note their limits (vs.2,14). Other leaders worshipped at a distance (v.1). What could explain this difference (Exodus 33:7,12; Numbers 12:6-8).
Israel confirmed their covenant with God, a solemn promise, in one voice. Notice their pledge (vs.3,7b) and at least five things Moses did to seal this agreement (vs.4b-8). What do you think was significant about writing down the commands and commitments (v.4), building an altar, and setting up twelve pillars (v.4)? Moses also involved youth in the worship rituals (v.5), sealed with the blood of sacrifice, and God’s word. Many communities exclude youth from socio-political and religious mainstreams. Could this one day happen in Africa, or is it happening already?
God called Moses further apart after the Priests and the Elders have enjoyed the fellowship with God for a moment (vs.9-12). Observe Joshua’s special privilege as Moses’ aide (v.12). Moses carefully put structures in place to ensure orderliness at the camp during his absence (v.14), probably learning from Jethro (Exodus 18:13-26). Godly, experienced leaders can still learn practical wisdom from others.
Lord God, please enable me to maintain the discipline of drawing apart daily to meet privately with you in Bible reading and prayer (Quiet Time), and to diligently and practically involve children and youth in my family/household and church fellowship.

– 1 Chronicles 16:11
THANK GOD FOR:
► The intercession of the Holy Spirit who searches the heart of God and knows the mind of the Spirit and helps our lives.
► The power of God that has kept us and our families thus far.
► Grace to keep on praying, interceding, while giving thanks for answered prayers.
► The heart to sit still in the presence of God our father to learn the lessons for the day.
► Healing, deliverance and spiritual help today even as we get shut in with our God.
► All forms of unrighteous acts that will bring a crack on the wall and make the serpent to bite.
► Unforgiving spirit that will disqualify us from receiving anything from our father.
