SCRIPTURE UNION DAILY DEVOTIONAL FOR SEPTEMBER 26, 2022 (END OF ALL BATTLES)

TOPIC: END OF ALL BATTLES
OPENING PRAYER: Grant me grace dear Lord to apply what you will teach me today as I read this passage.
SCRIPTURE: Revelations 21:1‐8
MESSAGE
What picture do you have of heaven and how does it compare with what you see in this passage? Here, we get a glimpse of eternity, the new world. One aspect that comes out clearly from this passage is the fellowship of God and His people, the believers, that will be in heaven (vs.3–4). Reflect on the restored relationship with God and think of what you need to do to be in the number of those who will have eternal fellowship with God.
God will restore the original creation, for life in heaven will be as God intended it to be. Notice the criterion for entering that fellowship with God (v.7). As you read this verse, can you confirm with certainty that you are ready to do what is expected, for you to enter heaven?
In contrast, look at v.8 and see some of the factors that will disqualify many from entering heaven. While we neither intend nor can force anyone to come to Christ, the thought of their eternal separation from God should fill us with the burden to intercede for the lost. We should also practically share the gospel with them.
Question(s) for Reflection
• Is there any promise for me to believe or hope for?
• Is there any warning for me to heed?
Practice/Word Application
Thought: What plans do you have for the non‐Christians around you? Pray for them and any backslidden Christian around you.
• Any new insight or reinforcement of what you already know?
Closing Prayer
• Please LORD, by your mercy and power; let me not miss eternal life.
Offer a prayer of faith in line with Genesis 39:2a
