TOPIC: IN THE WARMTH OF TEMPTATIONS
Read: James 1:13
“Abstain from all appearance of evil.” 1 Thessalonians 5:22
When you obey Gods instruction to abstain from all appearances of evil, you will be doing yourself a huge favour because you would have escaped a calamity that was intended to befall you. You may not know the great
dangers that obedience will save you from until you see the suffering of someone who disobeyed.
There are many young preachers, tongue-talking and demon-chasing, who are careless about how their relationship with the opposite sex is subtly evolving into sin. Initially, it began with constant communication, then from handshakes to holding of hands, then from a harmless side hug to bear hugs until they fell into the sin of fornication.
One of Peters greatest mistakes that encouraged his denial of Jesus Christ was that he warmed himself at the fire in the palace of the High Priest. He got too comfortable in a non-spiritual environment. Don’t get too comfortable as to lock yourself up in a room with a member of the opposite sex, for whatever reason. Obey instructions and promptings from the Holy Spirit so that you will not fall short of the grace of God upon your life.
Point: Let him that thinks he stands be careful lest he falls (1Corinthians10:12).
