Bible Text: 1 John 4:7-12
TOPIC: KNOWING GOD, WE CAN LOVE OTHERS
“Dear friends, let us love one another, for love comes from God. Everyone who loves has been born of God and knows God” 1 John 4:7, NIV
In Knowing God, J.I. Packer, states “Once you become aware that the main business that you are here for is to know God, most of life’s problems fall into place of their own accord”. In essence, as sociologists agreed, the depth of human relationship among themselves is determined by the depth of love for one another and the knowledge of the person you are relating with.
The words of Packer align well with the words of John that once we know God, it will reflect in the way we love others. John stresses that knowing God is equal to loving others. God is love and knowing Him is like knowing love and then sharing that knowledge with others.
You cannot claim that you love God when it is not showing in your relationship with others. It is the way you relate with others around you, in your school, work place, at home, and in the church that will show whether you truly belong to, know and love God.
There are no two ways to it. God gave you His best, give your best to others too.
Insight: Have and display ‘agape’ (God’s) love to all people.
Prayer: Father, thank You for loving me. Help me to share it with others.
