Bible Text: Matthew 9:35-10:1
Topic: JOIN THE LORD’S HARVEST TODAY
“Then he said to his disciples, “The harvest is plentiful but the workers are few.” Matthew 9:37, NIV
On Saturday, 15th March, 2014, over 6.5 million applicants showed up for an interview to fill 4000 vacant positions in the Nigerian Immigration Service. At least 16 job seekers were confirmed dead, while some were injured due to overcrowding, stampede, exhaustion, and impatience.
The irony of life is that while many are rushing for a job which only few are needed and which gives only temporal satisfaction, the LORD’s harvest for which many are needed only receives few responses. Hence, workers in God’s vineyard are few.
Christ is (i) equipping all believers so they can proclaim the good news and help those who are sick (physically and spiritually) to get healing; (ii) mandating believers to pray so that other believers can join in the harvest.
Every Christian owes a duty to honour this invitation by joining the harvest team. It may look like others are progressing more than those working for God, but when you compare the result at the end, those working for God have eternal value and peace that cannot be bought with money.
*We must live in such a way that we will be solutions to other people’s problems so that others who are not Christians can get saved and also become witnesses for Christ. Make sure that you are in the harvest team of the LORD today.*
Insight: While men are rushing and struggling to do men’s work, it pays to respond to God’s work and have peace.
Prayer: LORD, please equip me and make me a faithful worker in Your field.
