TOPIC: ABRAHAM BELIEVED DESPITE IMPOSSIBLE ODDS
TEXT: ROMANS 4:19-21
“Yet he did not waver through unbelief regarding the promise of God, but was strengthened in his faith and gave glory to God.” Romans 4:20, NIV
Two boys stood at the edge of a frozen pond. One of them said to the other, “Billy, I believe it will bear our weight.” “Do you?” asked the other. “Yes.”
“Then get on it.” “No,” he said, “I don’t want to.” “Then,” said the other, “you don’t believe it will bear you.” When faith is punctured, it cannot hold anything.
It wasn’t that Abraham did not face some challenging and anxious moments in his life. He had many of them. Nevertheless, he looked beyond all difficulties to God and His ability to fulfill the promises. The Bible says,
“Even when there was no reason for hope, Abraham kept hoping – believing he would become the father of many nations” (Romans 4:18 NLT).
Faith does not have to see before it believes. Faith believes even when there is nothing to show for it. Abraham accepted his name change to father of nations when he didn’t even have one child – that is faith!
What has God told you about your life that looks impossible? It is only with faith that you access God’s promises and miracles. Work more on your faith in God’s Word so that you can experience the supernatural.
Insight: Doubt steals all blessings.
Prayer: LORD, I believe, help my unbelief.
