TOPIC: UZZAH DISREGARDS THE ARK’S HOLINESS
Bible Text: 2 Samuel 6:6-11
”The Lord’s anger burned against Uzzah because of his irreverent act, therefore God struck him down and he died there beside the ark of God.” 2 Samuel 6: 7, NIV
MESSAGE
The carelessness of a pilot reportedly caused a fatal crash which led to his death and over a hundred others. He was diagnosed of a mental health issue earlier and as part of the rule of engagement, he was not supposed to fly an airplane with such condition.
The Ark of Covenant symbolizes the presence of God among His people (Hebrews9:4). Uzzah died a mysterious death for his utmost disregard for the Ark of God. He probably based his judgment on his vast experience as a son of a prominent person (Abinadab) who had played host to the Ark for 20years after its return from captivity in the land of the Philistines. Even though he was trying to prevent the Ark from falling off, he was not spared. Does this make God wicked? Absolutely not!
We must be careful in our dealings not to disregard God and treat Him with contempt. Many times, God may even be silent but that doesn’t mean He is happy with our actions. He will judge accordingly.
God desires to be treated with respect and honour always. Do not take Him for granted no matter how close you think you are to Him.
Insight: Never get familiar with God to the point that you treat Him with contempt.
Prayer: Lord, may I never incur Your wrath.
