SEEK DAILY (NBC) DAILY DEVOTIONAL March 23, 2022 (ONENESS OF HEART)
TOPIC: ONENESS OF HEART
Bible Text: Acts 4:32-35
Memory Verse: “All the believers were one in heart and mind. No one claimed that any of their possessions was their own, but they shared everything they had.” Acts 4:32, NIV
Mark Twain said: he put a dog and a cat in a cage together as an experiment, to see if they could get along.
They did, so he put in a bird, pig and goat. They too, got along fine after a few adjustments. Then he put in a Baptist,
Presbyterian, and Methodist; soon there was not a living thing left. This illustration is an ugly and undesirable picture of the church today.
The Scripture says believers in the early church were in one accord, in all things and were willing to share everything they had with one another. This brought about expansion in the works of God, the needs of the poor were met and no one was lacking among them. The Apostles were spiritually empowered and much grace to live righteously was upon them. So many miracles were done through them.
God’s desire is for His church to live in unity with one another (John 17:21). We must consider the needs of others, especially those in the household of faith and be determined one way or the other to meet them as the Lord blesses us. This will help to strengthen the brethren, enhance unity, and result in the expansion of God’s work.
Insight: Unity is strengthened when we avoid self-centeredness.
Prayer: Lord, help me to walk in unity with other believers.
