SEEK DAILY (NBC) DAILY DEVOTIONAL DECEMBER 1, 2021 (DISCERN THE GOOD, ACCEPTABLE, AND PERFECT)
TOPIC: DISCERN THE GOOD, ACCEPTABLE, AND PERFECT
Bible Text: Romans 12:1-2
“Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is — his good, pleasing and perfect will.” Romans 12:2, NIV
We shape and order our existence by the numerous decisions we make each day, and most of them are so trivial that we make them almost automatically. God’s will hardly enters into our decisions apart from those unusual times when we realize the negative effects of our decisions. We suddenly break out of our usual habits and begin to pursue God and sometimes agonize over God’s mind on the matter.
But today God is asking us to lay everything that has to do with our life before Him as a sacrifice. He wants to be involved in every little detail of our life and not just when we want to make big decisions. Knowing the will of God starts from knowing God Himself and we can’t know God if we do not have a relationship with Him.
Building a relationship with Him involves trusting Him with our lives. When we do this, we will not be affected by the things that go on around us and it will become easy for us to recognize what God wants from us. Make a decision to work on your relationship with God today so that you can understand His will.
Insight: Embracing what God wants for us is the best thing we can do for Him.
Prayer: O God, help me to understand your will for my life and give me the grace to pursue it.
RBT Passage: 1 Corinthians 10-13
