SCRIPTURE UNION DAILY GUIDE DEVOTIONAL FOR APRIL 3, 2023 (BETRAYAL WITH A KISS)
TOPIC: BETRAYAL WITH A KISS
OPENING PRAYER: May my heart, O Lord, be receptive to your word as I meditate on it.
SCRIPTURE: Mark 14: 43-52
Question(s) for Reflection
• Q 2: Is there any example for me to follow or not to follow?
• Q 7: What truth is God revealing to me in this passage?
Nowadays, betrayal is a common trend in our societies, both in religious and secular environment, and often from one that is very close to you. Observe that Judas was absent at Gethsemane while Jesus and other disciples were in prayer over the night (v.43).
Judas knew where Jesus would be this early hour of the morning (v.44). How was Judas going to identify Jesus among His disciples for Him to be arrested and what does this teach us about Jesus’ simplicity compared to our modern-day preachers with designers’ dresses?
Jesus’ arrest at this point was possible not because of Judas’ well-planned strategy but because it was God’s time for the scriptures about Him to be fulfilled. So, He did not resist arrest (v.49). When we are sure of God’s plan for our lives, we will not be agitated by whatever challenges we may face in life.
What can you say about the disciple’s behaviour in v.50 (cf. v.27)?
And So? We need to depend on God for His daily guidance so that we won’t desert the Lord but stand firm amid persecutions.
• Any new insight or reinforcement of what you already know?
Dear Lord Jesus, I do not want to betray you no matter the challenges I may face in life. Please help me to always stand with you.

THANK GOD FOR:
► Biblical passages that encourage us daily to be determined and to persevere in all things.
► Teaching us His ways so that we can walk in His truth daily.
► Grace to move on as we build our character, remain steadfast and unmovable even when everything look hopeless and negative.
► Determination to continue to seek the Lord and the strength He gives in His presence daily.
► Courage and deliberate decision to refuse to let our hands and hearts be weak as we await the return of our Master.
► Getting tired and discouraged instead of remaining strong and letting our heart take courage in our God.
► Failing to rejoice in hope, be patient in tribulation and to remain constant in prayer in this end time.
