SCRIPTURE UNION DAILY DEVOTIONAL GUIDE FOR APRIL 16, 2023 (DELEGATION PAYS)
TOPIC: DELEGATION PAYS
OPENING PRAYER: Help me dear Lord to meet with you as I meditate on your word in Jesus name
TODAY’S SCRIPTURE: EXODUS 18: 1-27
QUESTIONS FOR REFLECTION
• Q 2: Is there any example for me to follow or not to follow?
• Q 5: Is there any warning for me to heed?
MESSAGE
Many ministers, like Moses (vs.13,18) often get so exhausted both physically and spiritually they become ineffective in their primary assignment (vs.19,20). Moses’ father-in-law intervened to rescue the situation (vs.13,14). Jethro, a Midianites priest gave a sound counsel for successful leadership. What can we learn from this?
From vs.20-23 what hierarchy of delegated authority do you see? Do you have such in your Church or Fellowship? Note a key function of Christian leadership in v.20.
What does it take to operate delegated leadership (v.24-26)? It took Moses, the great leader with authority and God’s mandate, humility (v.24) and willingness to train others (vs.19, 20). Apostle Paul also stated that it is expected of leaders to entrust the ministry of the word to faithful men who would teach others too (2 Timothy 2:2). What else can you learn from Jethro in v.27? Just be a channel of God’s counsel and withdraw to allow Him use His chosen vessel.
