TOPIC: PRAISE GOD ANYWAY
Opening Prayer: Dear Lord, grant me understanding and illumination as I ponder on your word in Jesus name.
Scripture: Psalm 30:1‐12
Question(s) for Reflection
• Is there any promise for me to believe or hope for?
• Is there any prayer for me to remember?
• What truth is God revealing to me in this passage?
MESSAGE
The psalmist testifies to the works of God in his life. He has reasons to praise God. Notice some of these in vs.1‐3 & 11. Wailing and sackcloth (v.11) suggest mourning. With what were they replaced? List some of those reasons you too must praise God today. What attributes of God does he highlight in v.5a? Sometimes, it seems we can only praise God when we experience something good or positive.
But the psalmist, reflecting on the power of praise by faith, praises God for the seemingly difficult experiences he was made to pass through (vs.5b‐7). God demolished the false security around him so he does not forget he owes all to God. With his self‐confidence swept away, he cried to the Lord in prayer (vs.8‐10). Any situation which brings us to our knees is good.
Many of us pray best when we are in a tight corner. God answered the prayer of the psalmist. Notice his vow in v.12. Those the Lord has redeemed must continue to sing God’s praise.
• Any new insight or reinforcement of what you already know?
Closing Prayer
• Lord, grant me the grace to praise and worship you regardless of my present situation.
