MESSAGE
For us as Christians, prayer is not just a shopping list of what we want God to do for us. It is part of the practical outworking of our relationship with our heavenly Father.
Jesus gave to us a model for all our prayers. Father, hallowed be your name: We seek the highest honour and the deepest respect for our loving, caring heavenly Father.
Your Kingdom come?: We are asking that people everywhere should accept Him as King in their lives and do what pleases Him on earth as the angels do in heaven. Give us our daily bread: This is the one and only material request in the prayer.
It covers our ongoing needs to sustain our lives and our welfare day by day. Forgive us our sins, as we also forgive?: Our sins are all forgiven when we are born again. Sadly, we still commit sins and require God’s forgiveness continually. We must be conscious of our need to forgive others too (see Matthew 6:14‐15).
Practice/Word Application
Lead us not into temptation: Satan, the Tempter, is stronger than us. We need God to lead us away from him.
• Any new insight or reinforcement of what you already know?
Closing Prayer
• Lord, teach us to pray, and Lord, please teach us how to pray.
Prayer for the week
• Pray for brethren in pain, the widows, orphans, disabled and the less privilegd people around. Believe God that they will not backslide because of the problems that surround them. Trust God that the various churches will remember to care for them as commanded by the Bible.
Offer a prayer of faith in line with Micah 4:4
