SCRIPTURE UNION DAILY DEVOTIONAL FOR FEBRUARY 11, 2022 (THE PASSOVER)
TOPIC: THE PASSOVER
OPENING PRAYER: Grant me depth of insight, revelation and knowledge as I meditate on this passage, O Lord.S
TODAY’S SCRIPTURE: Exodus 12:1-20
QUESTIONS FOR REFLECTION
• Q 1: What does the passage teach about God the Father, or God the Son or God the Holy Spirit?
• Q 3: Is there any command for me to obey?
• Q 5: Is there any warning for me to heed?
MESSAGE
Today’s passage contains instructions for immediate and future actions. The Passover night was going to be the beginning of a special history the people would live to remember throughout their entire life and existence as a nation (vs.1-2). Study carefully how the people should observe the event (vs.3-4), the quality of the lamb to be used (v.5), and its preparation (vs.6-10). Special instructions were given on how to eat the special meal, with special dressing for their final exit from the land of slavery (v.11). Memorize vs.12-13.
The event would foreshadow how God would later sacrifice His only Son for the release of the whole world from the bondage to sin (Mark 14:17-26). Read and meditate on vs.14-20 and note what the Church should still celebrate today and what she should not. In 1 Corinthians 11:23-34, Apostle Paul sheds light on how the Church should observe the Passover feast (the Lord’s Supper). As the Israelites were commanded to observe the Passover yearly, forever, the Church is commanded to observe the feast of Holy Communion till Christ comes back. How often do you partake of this solemn service in your local Church?

hymn – Some Happy Day
1. Some happy day, mine eyes shall see,
The face of Him who died for me;
I’ll praise Him thro’ eternity,
Some happy day, some happy day.
Refrain: Some happy day, some happy day,
The Lord will wipe our tears away,
And we shall see Him as He is,
Some happy day, some happy day.
2. Some happy day, I too shall sing
The song that makes all Heaven ring;
Worthy the Lamb, our Lord and king,
Some happy day, some happy day.
3. Some happy day, O blessèd thought,
The race is run, the battle fought;
We’ll join the throng by His blood bought,
Some happy day, some happy day.
4. Some happy day, ‘tis drawing near,
The thought my fainting soul doth cheer;
Sweet welcome from His lips to hear
Some happy day, some happy day.
