MESSAGE
Satan is not always happy with our success or faithfulness. Hezekiah faced difficulties despite his faithfulness. In v.1, Judah was invaded “after all that Hezekiah had so faithfully done”. Such should not discourage us from remaining faithful to our God. What steps did Hezekiah take to prevent the capture of Jerusalem (vs.3‐6)? Notice how wise Hezekiah was to use God’s word to encourage the people and remind them of the past victories because they had fully trusted in God.
Hezekiah was a leader who knew what to do in the face of difficulties. Leaders should learn to build confidence in their followers as they face difficult times. What kind of leader are you? Sennacherib sent a message in which he outlined the terms of surrender. It was full of mockery and ridicule of Israel’s God. Go through this argument in vs.10‐15 again. Can you pick out his errors?
Satan is an expert in mixing a few elements of truth with a bundle of errors in order to deceive and confuse and thereby sowing in the heart of his victim doubt (compare Genesis 3:17). Let us learn to recognize his tricks and build trust in our God. He is able and ready to save us.
