“Thou shalt not bear false witness against thy neighbor.” Exodus 20:16
Some people just love the attention that being a bearer of news, (whether false or true) gives to them. I was told that one of the most lucrative businesses now is blogging and one of the most prominent ways a blogger pulls traffic to his/her site is by writing all sorts of things to catch peoples attention, whether they are correct or not. This is not right.
As a Christian you must be honest at all times with the news you share. If you have not verified the news, don’t share it with others – whether through words or on your social media platforms, so that you don’t mislead people by being a witness to a false story. Also, when you don’t share unverified news, you will escape the wrath of God because in Proverbs 19:9 , the Bible says: “A false witness shall not be unpunished, and he that speaketh lies shall perish.”
As seen in the Scripture above, the consequences of being a false witness – whether in speech or in writing, are grievous. In addition, a false witness is a murderer in disguise; the motive cannot be mistaken – it is to destroy. I pray for you today that false witnesses will not destroy your destiny, in Jesus name.
