TOPIC: Parental Consent
READ: Ephesians 6:1-3
- Children, obey your parents in the Lord: for this is right.
- Honour thy father and mother; which is the first commandment with promise;
- That it may be well with thee, and thou mayest live long on the earth.
Children, obey your parents in the Lord: for this is right. – Ephesians 6:1
In many parts of the world, an eighteen-year-old is considered an adult who can take decisions and certain responsibilities. You may feel you should be allowed to do whatever you like because you’re now of age but I want to enjoin you to be careful as any uncontrolled freedom may land you in trouble.
In some parts of the world, the government says a child should be allowed to choose his/her preferred gender or doesn’t need his parents’ consent when he/she wants to make any decision but this is clearly a scheme of the devil for the end-time. The aim of this is to fill the world with confusion and cause divisions in the home which naturally should be the first place from which a child gets good training.
My dear, don’t be carried away by the destructive wisdom of this world. Seeking your parents consent over important issues of your life is a way of showing them honour. My children used to inform me about their school trips, vacations, et cetera so that I could pray along with them.
Never underestimate the covering your parents have over you. Honour them by seeking their consent before taking decisions.
When you honour your parents, you will also receive honour.
