JOYCE MEYER DAILY DEVOTIONAL FOR SEPTEMBER 17, 2022 (HOW CAN I CHANGE?)
TOPIC: HOW CAN I CHANGE?
Scripture: Are you so foolish and so senseless and so silly? Having begun [your new life spiritually] with the [Holy] Spirit, are you now reaching perfection [by dependence] on the flesh? Galatians 3:3 (AMPC)
MESSAGE
Our love for Jesus makes us want to be everything He wants us to be. Because of that, we often fall into the trap of trying to change ourselves rather than trusting God to change us. I spent many frustrating years, striving in my flesh (my own strength, ability, energy, and effort without God), to do what only He could do in me.
No doubt, all of us need to change and become more and more like Jesus. This will happen little by little as we study His Word and fellowship with Him. God has called you to Himself, and only He can complete by His Spirit what He begins in the Spirit. He is the Author and the Finisher of your faith and of all the work that needs to be done in you (see Hebrews 12:2).
Tell Jesus your desire, and then lean on Him to bring it to pass. Don’t be frustrated with yourself because you are not all that you want to be. God will meet you where you are and help you get to where you need to be.
Prayer of the Day: Father, I desire to change and be more and more like Jesus, but I can’t change myself. I ask You to change me, and I wait on You to do what only You can do. In Jesus’ name, amen.
