TOPIC: BE AN OUTLET
Read Romans 10:13-18
13 For “whoever calls on the name of the LORD shall be saved.” Israel Rejects the Gospel 14 How then shall they call on Him in whom they have not believed? And how shall they believe in Him of whom they have not heard? And how shall they hear without a preacher? 15 And how shall they preach unless they are sent? As it is written: “How beautiful are the feet of those who preach the gospel of peace, Who bring glad tidings of good things!”
16 But they have not all obeyed the gospel. For Isaiah says, “LORD, who has believed our report?”
17 So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.
18 But I say, have they not heard? Yes indeed: “Their sound has gone out to all the earth, And their words to the ends of the world.”
MEMORISE:
Whatever I tell you in the dark, speak in the light; and what you hear in the ear, preach on the housetops (Matthew 10:27)
EXPOSITION
To talk about the Dead Sea which is so salty that it contains no fish or plant life on this day, which commemorates world Maritime Day is not out of place. What accounts for this unusual condition? There are absolutely no outlets! A great volume of water pours into this area, but nothing flows out. Many inlets plus no outlets equal a dead sea!
Every true believer in Christ Jesus has an obligation, ‘Go into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature’ (Mk. 16:15), but unfortunately, there are those that seem indifferent. They are like Dead Sea that has no outlet.
This law of nature, as applied to many Christians, explains why many believers are so unfruitful and lacking in spiritual vitality. It is possible for some people to attend Bible conferences, listen to religious broadcasts, study the Scriptures, and continually take in the Word as it is preached from the pulpit, and yet seem lifeless and unproductive in their Christian lives.
But that is too bad! Such individuals are like the Dead Sea. They have several “inlets” but no “outlets.
To be vibrant and useful believers, we must not only “take in” all we can, but we must also “give out” in service to others!
The command of the Lord Jesus Christ is that you preach the Gospel to the worlds of men (the housetops), whatever you are being taught about God. You are His “Word bank.” The world needs to receive from you God’s saving grace deposited in you. Many people are thirsty of the good news of salvation, desperately desiring changed lives. And the Scripture says, ‘How then shall they call on Him in whom they have not believed?
And how shall they believe in Him of whom they have not heard? And how shall they hear without a preacher? And how shall they preach unless they are sent? As it is written: “How beautiful are the feet of those who preach the gospel of peace?”‘ (Rom. 10:14-15a) Be a saving outlet to these dying souls. God counts on you.
