Topic: Avoiding the Temptation of Envy
Any manifestation of envy is a bankruptcy of love.
Scripture: …charity envieth not…1 Corinthians 13:4
Thought for The Day: Any manifestation of envy is a bankruptcy of love.
In our world today, the hearts of men are filled with envy. We have people with bitterness and wickedness of heart. They want what belong to others to be theirs. They manifest envy when they see their fellow progressing in life. They say quietly in their heart, “Why should he be the one to get that promotion?
Why should he be the one in that position? Why should she be the one to be married to that person? Why should she be the one to have that car?” This is envy. It is a manifestation of lack of love.
Beloved, love does not envy. Love celebrates good things in other people’s lives. Love is excited at the progress of others. Love will only trust God. Love says, “Father, thank You for the great breakthrough, solid marriage and ministry in the life of my friend. I appreciate You for his life. Father, You are no Respecter of persons.
You did it in his life; You can also do it in my life. You are the same yesterday, today and forever”. That is not envy. It is being positive. It is being inspired and motivated to desire what is good.
But when the progress of your neighbour turns into resentment and annoyance, it becomes envy and jealousy! And love does not envy.
Beloved, determine never to fall into the temptation of envy and jealousy.
Remember this: Any manifestation of envy is a bankruptcy of love.
1. Refuse to fall into the temptation of envy and jealousy.
2. Wish your friends well when they make progress in life.
PRAYER: Lord, I ask that You deliver me from the spirit of envy, bitterness, wickedness and competitive jealousy. I receive the grace to wish people well, Lord, in Jesus’ Name.

QUOTE: Whenever you go before God to pray or worship in a state of resentment, He sees you wearing a garment of bitterness and a cloak of unforgiveness. Culled from “AM I BITTER?” by Dr (Mrs) Becky Paul-Enenche.

REFLECTION: 1. Nobody succeeds at the expense of another, Nobody’s success is the reason for another person’s failure. 2. Connection to source guarantees success.
