C A C LIVING WATER DAILY DEVOTIONAL November 13, 2021 (DON’T TAKE GOD’S PATIENCE FOR GRANTED!)
TOPIC: DON’T TAKE GOD’S PATIENCE FOR GRANTED!
Read 2 Peter 3:9-15
MEMORISE: and consider that the longsuffering of our Lord is salvation as also our beloved brother Paul, according to the wisdom given to him, has written to you (2 Peter 3:15)
EXPOSITION
The amazing and awesome attributes of our God include His unprecedented patience, longsuffering and forbearance. He is so longsuffering with man that He gives and continues to give him long rope to pull, unlike man who reacts and loses his head, when pushed to the wall. God is always calm and waiting for the wicked to repent and amend his evil ways while also warning of the consequences of being caught in the web of wickedness. God, unlike man, knows that the worst sinner today is a potential saint, any moment from now.
Meanwhile, many have been seeing the grace and mercy of God as weakness on His part. Many wonder why God would allow a criminal to perpetuate all his evils and still comes back to submit to Christ. A notorious armed robber who had killed, stolen and destroyed is welcome in God’s outstretched arms if he or she repents.
Dear devout, in what area has God been expecting you to turn a new leaf? Do you think He will continue to wait endlessly? His patience is for you to be penitent, so that He can mercifully save you. ‘If You Reach Hell, You will Cry,’ says the title of a gospel tract. Of course, he who ends up in hell will do more than crying in that damnable place. God doesn’t want His creatures to end up in hell that is meant for the the cursed Lucifer and the derailed angels.
Although, salvation has come to the undeserving man free of charge, it shouldn’t be considered that cheap. It had cost God His only begotten Son to redeem mankind from eternal death.
The best time is always now. It is suicidal to take God’s grace, love, mercy and loving-kindness for granted. You do best by repenting now. Then, if you have done so, you must daily work out your personal salvation with fear and trembling. You are saved, provisionally: you are still being saved, progressively; and will still be saved, ultimately. It is not over yet. Stay on His side always.
PRAYER POINTS
1. God, use any circumstance to deliver the perishing, even as I take the Good news to them.
2. Lord, let me not waste the redemption You have painstakingly and patiently perfected for me.
3. Intercede for as many as are yet to come to the knowledge of our Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ.
