TOPIC: MOSES AND MIRIAM PRAISE GOD
Bible Text: Exodus 15:11-21
“Miriam sang to them: ‘sing to the LORD for He is highly exalted. Both horse and rider He has hurled into the sea.” Exodus 15:21, NIV
Yesterday, we read how Moses composed songs of praises to God for their deliverance from the Egyptian armies and the Red Sea. As Moses uncontrollably praised God, Miriam organized the women to join in the praise session with tambourines in their hands (vs. 20).
Praise sessions are more effective and productive if they are done in unison. We must learn to work together when praising the LORD. Everyone must play their part and harmonize together to celebrate the goodness of God. Miriam did not compose a new song, but led the women to chorus the song led by Moses.
Believers must learn from the actions of Moses and Miriam praising the LORD; (1) God is the object of their praise; Moses acknowledge God as the source of the miracle, not their ability, (2) Moses composed songs by inspiration not just copying anything, (3) they recounted the goodness of God in the victory not just mumbling words together (4) they sang in unison not a showmanship (5) praise and worship to God should be voluntary rather than being coerced.
Don’t be forced or force anybody to praise the LORD for His goodness in your life. Also, anytime you see people praising God do not hesitate to join in praising God.
Insight: An ungrateful person is like an armed robber.
Prayer: LORD, I am grateful for Your providence in my life.
