BAPTIST SEEK DAILY (NBC) DAILY DEVOTIONAL October 6, 2021 (LET JUSTICE ROLL DOWN)
TOPIC: LET JUSTICE ROLL DOWN
Bible Text: Amos 5:21-25
MEMORISE: However, let justice roll on like a river, righteousness like a never-failing stream.” Amos 5: 24, NIV
A democrat, writer, and activist was nominated and duly invited by the government of his country for a national award in 2017 but he refused to show up. When asked by the pressmen why he rejected the award, he accused the government of recklessness, jungle justice, insincerity, insensitivity to the plight of the citizens, tribalism and nepotism. He added that he valued his integrity.
In the days of Amos, God was displeased with the religiosity of the people in terms of festivals, sacrifices, and offerings of different kinds in order to appease Him. All these were not acceptable before God because they left neglected justice and fairness. They were to return and do what is right.
In what ways are you “bribing” God with sacrifices, gifts, attendance of fellowship meetings, church programmes, fasting and prayer, yet involving in sinful acts like stealing, cheating and fornicating?
The day of reckoning is coming when all secrets of man’s heart shall be exposed. God is the Judge of all flesh and He expects His children to establish justice everywhere they find themselves. Do not deny people of their right as you go out today. Let justice begin with you and run through to other people.
God is just and fair and He expects the same from His children.
Jesus, help me to be just in all I do.
