Topic: LEPERS SHARE THEIR GOOD NEWS
Bible Text: 2 Kings 7:3-11
“Then they said to each other, “What we’re doing is not right. This is a day of good news and we are keeping it to ourselves. If we wait until daylight, punishment will overtake us. Let’s go at once and report this to the royal palace.”
2 Kings 7:9, NIV
It is common to see students who are better in a subject refraining from sharing their knowledge with fellow students so that no one can compete with them for the prize of being the best student in the subject or the class.
The famine in the city as a result of the siege by the Arameans made the bad situation in which the lepers found themselves worse.
They thought of falling into the hand of the Arameans perhaps their lives would be spared. But, by the time they arrived at the camp, the Arameans had fled as a result of God’s intervention, leaving food and most of their goods behind. Instead of death, the lepers gathered food and other goods until they had a change of heart. They realized it was not right for them to keep the good news to themselves. Therefore, they shared it with the nation through the gate-keepers.
Are you a kind of person who would not tell others about how they can prosper and be successful so they can always look up to you? It is unrighteousness not to share good news or extend helping hands to others.
How many people have you told the good news about Christ? Do not keep the salvation message to yourself. Share with someone today.
Insight: Every favour received from God provides an opportunity to share the Good News about Christ.
Prayer: LORD, help me to do what is right, by sharing Your Good News with others.
