Bible Text: Psalm 147:1-7
TOPIC: A SONG OF PRAISE IS FITTING
“…How good it is to sing praises to our God, how pleasant and fitting to praise him!” Psalm 147:1, NIV
One of the best ways to express ourselves in worship to God for who He is and what He has done is by singing songs of praise to Him. It gives us the leverage to worship God with dynamism.
David expresses a suitable song of praise as a response to declare the worth of God, which is an act of worship. He ascribed the glory due to the name of God by celebrating Him. It is more fitting to appreciate God for who He is than for what we desire Him to do for us. We do worship because God is worthy of reverence, and nothing less. The focus of our gratitude is the Lord and what He means to us (vs. 7).
Worship edifies; in worship, the stories of God’s acts are heard again and again. As we sing songs and listen to the preached Word, the life and finished work of Jesus is retold. We can use music to build up people, encourage others and also share the Gospel about God’s greatness. Beloved, spend some time singing songs of praise to God.
Insight: Harmonious songs offered by harmonious hearts to the glory of God triggers His manifest presence.
Prayer: Lord, infuse into me a hunger for You which will propel me into acceptable worship.
