Bible Text: 1 Peter 1:3-9
TOPIC: INDESCRIBABLE AND GLORIOUS JOY
“Though you have not seen Him, you love Him; and even though you do not see Him now, you believe in Him and are filled with an inexpressible and glorious joy.” 1 Peter 1:8, NIV
Joy is a fruit of the Spirit. It is an inner feeling of gladness inspired as a result of one’s union with Christ.
Deep search in the Scriptures shows that joy remains even in the face of sadness. Apostle Peter wrote this passage to encourage persecuted believers to remain steadfast in their faith. He reminded them about their inheritance reserved and secured in heaven. He further revealed to them that their trial of faith, which is better than gold was permitted to prove genuineness of their faith in Christ. It was not meant to take away their joy.
Believers are to keep their union with Christ in the face of suffering and troubles of life. This is the secret of indescribable and glorious joy. Those who compromise their faith will lose this joy and will become miserable.
Are you passing through persecution? Is your faith going through fire? Do not lose hope because you know that it is all for a moment. The present suffering cannot be compared to the joy that will be revealed in you. Therefore, rejoice in times of trouble. Also, encourage someone with this message today.
Insight: Weeping may endure for a night but joy comes in the morning.
Prayer: I receive the grace to stand firm in the faith so that my joy will last till eternity.
