Topic: GO TO GOD’S DWELLING PLACE
Text: Psalm 132:1-12
“Let us go to His dwelling place, let us worship at His footstool, saying, arise, LORD, and come to your resting place, you and the ark of your might.” Psalms 132:7-8, NIV
MESSAGE
A dwelling place is one’s abode which provides protection and warmth. Everyone always looks forward to get there after each day’s work. God, though omnipresent, also has a dwelling place, where His people meet Him for worship and fellowship.
In our passage today, David passionately desired a dwelling place for the Ark of God, which symbolizes the presence of God. Therefore, he sought permission from God to build Him a place of rest rather than carrying about the Ark of God. This noble decision came after God had given him rest from all his enemies.
To visit the dwelling place of God, one must be clothed with righteousness (vs. 9a). The life of one who seeks God must be free from contamination and deceit, for God is holy. It is also required that the person goes with a heart of gratitude, singing for joy (vs. 9b). In God’s dwelling place there is true rest, peace and strength. Are you weak and weary? You can go to God for grace and your strength will be renewed and increased for the journey ahead. But be sure that your heart is right with Him.
Insight: God’s dwelling place is the richest, safest and best place for the wise ones to seek and stay.
Prayer: Lord, I pray that nothing but God’s presence will give me peace, joy and satisfaction.
