Topic: Nagging Is A Spoiler Of Relationships
Opening Prayer: As I read your word O Lord, grant me an insight and grace to do your will in Jesus name.
Scripture: Proverbs 27:14-27
Question(s) for Reflection
• Is there any warning for me to heed?
Vs.15&16 aptly describe someone who nags those around him as a painful nuisance. People who nag display a spirit of, “I know what I am saying” as well as fear that they are not being heard. They have an unwelcome teaching spirit that really drives you mad and saps your peace of mind. Look at the way you deal with your spouse, children, friends and workmates. Do these loved ones see you as someone who nags? If you nag, confess and pick on good friends who will help you.
We are greatly made sharper and better people if we keep good company (v.17). Regular discussions with good people develop one’s character positively. We all benefit from our associations with others. We learn what to do from good people and what to avoid from negative characters.
Do you keep good company? If not, take steps to surround yourself with positive minded and knowledgeable people. The way you handle praise from people can make or break your character (v.21). Flattery is a dangerous weapon for destroying people. Finally, we are encouraged to be good stewards (vs.23-27), diligent in all we do, whether at home or in our workplace.
Practice/Word Application
• So what? Let us not give up meeting together…. A way to keep sharpening each other.
• Any new insight or reinforcement of what you already know?
Closing Prayer
• Help me, O Lord, to like the things you like and do that which brings you glory. • Pray against causes of climate change, war and other factors that could lead to famine and other disasters.
Offer a prayer of faith in line with Lamentations 3:22-23; • Psalms 13-15; Acts 11
