OPENING PRAYERS: Open my eyes O Lord that I might behold wondrous things from your word in Jesus name.
SCRIPTURE FOR TODAY: Exodus 7: 25-8:15
QUESTION FOR REFLECTION
• Q 1: What does the passage teach about God the Father, or God the Son or God the Holy Spirit?
MESSAGE
God was not asking for too much. After years of servitude, a three-day interlude to worship God would not be a major set-back for Pharaoh’s building projects (5:3; 8:27). He refused because he did not know the power of Israel’s God but now, he knows.
He now has a fair chance to ensure the security of his people. He has seen how God does not make empty threats (8:2-4). Whatever He says, He does (v.6). It makes perfect sense to listen to the voice of reason and let the people go to worship for three days and come back as Moses originally requested. Unfortunately, Pharaoh chose to resist the request of the Almighty. He would lose much more than three days free labour in the end. He would lose his slaves altogether.
Some people see God’s request today with the same eyes as Pharaoh’s, and they resist Him in the same manner. Jesus Christ gives out both an invitation and a fair warning in Matthew 16:24-26. To reject Him is to act in a manner even more foolish than Pharaoh! God had offered not to punish Pharaoh and his people if he allowed Israel the liberty to worship Him. Now He is offering freedom from bondage to sin and Satan eternally to those who choose to worship Him alone.

THANK GOD FOR:
► For teaching us the truth of His word in SU and other Christian Ministries.
► The power He gave us to be His children at our repentance, when we received a new heart and a new Spirit.
PRAY FOR:
► Genuine followership in SU as the brethren continue in living the life of Christ.
► Grace to keep on putting on the Lord Jesus Christ, so that no occasion will be given for the flesh.
► Deliberate decision to keep knowing that the flesh and all it’s power over us is gone, hence no need to live in sin again.
PRAY AGAINST:
► Failing to abide, remain and progress spiritually in Him, thereby giving room for the old life to manifest.
► Putting off the Lord Jesus, thereby making provision for the flesh to take over our lives.
