Topic: FOR ALL WHO SHARE ABRAHAM’S FAITH
“Therefore, the promise comes by faith, so that it may be by grace and may be guaranteed to all Abraham’s offspring – not only to those who are of the law but also to those who are of the faith of Abraham. He is the father of us all.” Romans 4:16, NIV
Bible Text: Romans 4:16-18
Parents do endow their offspring with definite characters and traits through birth and upbringing. “…Adah gave birth to Jabal, who was the ancestor of those who raise livestock and live in tents. His brother was Jubal, the ancestors of all musicians who play the harp and the flute.”
(Genesis 4:20-21, GNB). In other words, because their father was a livestock farmer, all the children of Jabal could raise livestock. The same way, all the children of Jubal could play the harp and the flute because they descended from him.
In Genesis 17:5, God changed Abram’s name to Abraham. Abram means “exalted father,” while Abraham means “father of many,” thus confirming the promise that He had made him a father of many nations. God expanded the promise that Abraham will be a blessing to all the people of the earth.
He became the ancestral father of all who will believe in God. He exercised faith in God by believing in Him, and anyone who believes in God through faith also becomes an offspring of Abraham. The promise of God is therefore for all who share Abraham’s faith. Are you an offspring of Abraham? Be sure you are living in faith in God.
Insight: Relationship with God is secured only by faith in Jesus Christ.
Prayer: LORD, I receive Your promises by faith.
