TOPIC: Look To Jesus And Live
TEXT: John 3:14-16(NKJV)
14. “And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even so must the Son of Man be lifted up,
15. “that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have eternal life.
16. “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.
STUDY: Our Lord Jesus Christ makes a comparism between the Serpent(Num. 21:4-9) which was lifted in the wilderness and Himself. As the serpent was lifted up, even so the Son of man was lifted up for our salvation. Christ has been lifted up and all who believe and look upon Him will be freed from sin and power of Satan.
The Israelites had sinned, were dying, and there was nothing they could do to save themselves. God told Moses to do somthing very unusual – to make a bronze replica of a snake and putit on a high pole, so that all could see it. The person who was bitten must look on the bronze serpent lifted up high on the pole and not on himself or hi wounds. He must look directly only and God’s remedy. As the people obediently looked on the serpent which Moses lifted up in the wilderness, they were healed.
Everyone of us has been bitten by the serpent of sin, and when it is finished, the snake-bite brings forth death (James 1:15). God has a solution! Those who look to Jesus lifted up on the cross and believe in Him will not die but have everlasting life.
PRAYER: Thank you Jesus for the gift of eternal life and the price You paid for my salvation.Amen.
