MESSAGE
An axiom asserts: “evil association corrupt good manner.” It is also true that bad association deprives us of God’s blessings. In Psalm 1:1-3, we have a description of the kind of Christian God blesses. If any child of God applies the same principles to his life, he will enjoy the blessings of God.
Sad to say, many Christians do not possess their possessions and enjoy their blessings in Christ because they are yet to fulfill their own part of the covenant – living separately from corruption in the world. People of old whom God blessed, beginning from the patriarch to the early church fathers, follow certain biblical guidelines to experience open heaven. The passage outlines the kind of person that will enjoy God’s blessings: a man separated from the world (vs. 1); a man who is saturated with the Word (vs. 2); and a man who is situated by the water (vs. 3).
Who/what do you need to separate from today? Daniel and Joseph remained two of the biblical youths who followed hard after God. They clearly modeled the three principles outlined above (Daniel 1:8, Genesis 39:9). For Joseph, he resisted the sin of sexual immorality and embrace holiness. Are you harboring any sinful act that is keeping you away from God or hindering you from enjoying the blessings of God? Set your heart right with God now!
Insight: Evil communication corrupts good manners.
Prayer: Lord, open my eyes to see whom I need to separate from.
RBT Passage: Deuteronomy 16-19
