SEEK DAILY (NBC) DEVOTIONAL FOR FEBRUARY 7, 2022 (BEARING FRUITS)
TOPIC: BEARING FRUITS
Bible Text: John 15:1-3
Memory Verse: “He cuts off every branch in me that bears no fruit, while every branch that does no bear fruit he prunesa so that it will be even more fruitful.” John 15: 2, NIV
Generally, fruit trees are known for bearing fruits that are perishable, that can be consumed or used by humans and some animals. Fruit-bearing trees and plants are the glory of the garden. Not only do they add beauty to the landscape, but they also produce edible fruits. The task of the gardener is to cut down every branch that does not
bear fruit on the tree.
God is described as the Gardener while Christ is the Vine or tree. His followers are the branches. Hence, any branch that does not produced fruits, the Father will “…cut off every branch” that bears no fruit. However, for every branch that bears fruits the Gardener will prune so it can grow afresh to produce more and better fruits.
In other words, if as disciples or followers of Christ, we are not producing more followers for Christ, we are in danger of been cut off by God who is the gardener of our lives as Christians. However, if we are fruitful in soul-winning, and disciple-making, God will sharpen us further to produce more fruits. Basically, God expect you to be a productive Christian for kingdom expansion. Pray for Grace to be a fruitful Christian and a faithful steward of Christ.
Insight: The productiveness of a tree is known by the fruitfulness of its branches.
Prayer: Lord Jesus, fill us with the spirit of fruitfulness just as You are.
