GOODNEWS DAILY DEVOTIONAL FOR FEBRUARY 4, 2022 (SPIRITUAL WORKOUT)
Today’s Scripture: 1 Timothy 4:7-8
But refuse profane and old wives’ fables, and exercise thyself rather unto godliness. For bodily exercise profiteth little: but godliness is profitable unto all things, having promise of the life that now is, and of that which is to come.
GOODNEWS DAILY DEVOTIONAL FOR TODAY 4TH FEBRUARY 2022.
Our scripture for today tells us that bodily exercise profiteth little. Don’t get so focused on the “little” that you miss the “profitable” part. Physical exercise is useful and beneficial. Now, if physical exercise is deemed profitable, how much more spiritual exercise? You see, life’s circumstances are your gym. It is the place where you exercise your faith muscle.
You are a spiritual world champion. And spiritual athletics is unlike the natural world of athletics in that you are permitted to use performance-enhancing drugs. In fact, it is recommended that you do so. Understand that a drug is a medicine or other substance that has a physiological effect when introduced or ingested into your physical body. In the natural sense, a performance-enhancing drug may be in the form of certain types of steroids, human growth hormone, or beta-blockers.
However, in the spiritual realm where you function, the most important performance-enhancing drug to enhance your faith muscle is the Word of God. The Bible says that faith comes by hearing, and that faculty of hearing comes by the Word of God. That means without the Word of God, you cannot develop hearing; therefore, you cannot develop your faith. The more of the Word you hear, the greater your potential to bulk up your faith. But just as bulking up physical muscles is useless if you are not going to use them, hearing the Word only is not enough. You must act on the Word you have heard.
That is how you exercise your faith. In a natural gym, you would not walk in as a novice and try to lift the heaviest weight. So start exercising your faith with something small. Set your goal, and stay focused on it until you see results. Then as your faith muscle gets stronger, exercise it towards “weightier” goals.
PROPHETIC DECLARATION
I am giving my faith a workout. Any problem is my opportunity to exercise my faith. I am setting new goals, pushing my faith targets higher and higher. I do not wait for change to happen. I cause changes to happen in Jesus’ Name!
