Bible Text: Hebrews 9:1-7
THE HOLINESS OF THE SANCTUARY
“But only the high priest entered the inner room, and that only once a year, and never without blood, which he offered for himself and for the sins the people had committed in ignorance.” Hebrews 9:7, NIV
A very famous man was known to be a lover of colour white to the extent that all his assets are white. One day, he came across his longtime school friend who promised to pay him a visit in his house. Getting to the entrance of the house, he was denied access to the mansion because he was not putting on a white cloth.
The passage today describes the structure and regulation of the tabernacle that served as the earthly sanctuary. The sanctuary is meant to be a sacred place that only the priest has access to. Even the priest must take certain precautions while in the sanctuary. God has made every believer His temple. We are God’s sanctuary and so we must take necessary precautions.
All believers must present themselves unto God everyday as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to God (Romans 12: 1). We have been given access to the holy of holies, but it cost Jesus His life! To gain entry, we must acknowledge and accept the cleansing power in the sacrifice of Jesus’ blood. We must be willing to stay pure and holy because Christ lives in us. Live constantly in the presence of God and enjoy complete cleansing and blotting out of sin through Christ’s work in the Most Holy Place
Insight: Without holiness it is impossible to please God.
Prayer: Lord, cleanse and make me worthy of Your grace.
