TEXT: DANIEL 4:34-37
TOPIC: AN EVERLASTING KINGDOM
“…Then I praised the Most High; I honoured and glorified him who lives forever. His dominion is an eternal dominion; his Kingdom endures from generation to generation.” Daniel 4:34, NIV
The statement “His dominion is an eternal dominion” was made by Nebuchadnezzar, a proud king who was humbled by the Lord by turning him into an animal so that he ate grass for seven years in the wilderness. Humiliation imparted humility on him!
Nebuchadnezzar rendered thanks to the Most High for being merciful towards him. The passage contains the following truths: (1) God lives forever; unlike human kings, He has neither predecessor nor successor.
The greatest of human kings inherits power and handovers his scepter to his successor. (2) He reigns forever on His throne. (3) He rules over all from His throne. All in heaven and on earth are under His authority. (4) He executes and accomplishes His plans and purposes from His throne. (5) Both angels and men are accountable to Him. (6) He has no injustice, error or corruption. All His works are right and His ways are just.
His good counsel concerning you cannot be changed. (7) When the sinful return to God, He clothes and dignifies them with grace and righteousness (vs. 36).Our response to the incredible truths about God should be humility, repentance from sin and worship. How well do you know this God? Give Him due worship today for His kingdom endures forever!
Insight: God’s sovereignty is irresistible, unconquerable, unstoppable and an unchanging constant.
Prayer: Lord, fulfill Your wonderful purpose and counsel concerning my life.
