SEEK DAILY (NBC) DEVOTIONAL FOR MARCH 21, 2022 (EXPRESSLOVE TO ONE ANOTHER)
TOPIC: EXPRESSLOVE TO ONE ANOTHER
Bible Text: 1 John 3:16-18
Memory Verse: “This is how we know what love is: Jesus Christ laid down his life for us. And we ought to lay down our lives for our brothers and sisters.” 1 John 3:16, NIV
MESSAGE
The phrase “it is well with you” or “God bless you” are often exchanged as pleasantries among believers, it could be good and encouraging, but might not be adequate on certain occasions. Tolu and Joy were best of friends.
After one fellowship programme, Tolu noticed Joy was not happy and asked what the problem was. She discovered her needs and provided for such to assist her. Expressing love to others should be practical, we should try to share in their pain, joy and friendship and always celebrate with them when the need arises.
Today’s passage admonishes us to be deliberate about expressing love to one another and not merely in bare words. God Himself proved His love towards us by giving Jesus Christ, His only begotten Son (John 3:16). As Disciples of Christ, we are also expected to prove our love towards others in deeds and through our actions and attitudes towards them.
Most often times, we claim we love others but we are not intentional about the love we share. You must not see your brother in need and let him go that way believing all will be well with him, while in fact you have in your possession what it takes to help him. Rise and help someone in need today.
Insight: Let us practice our love in both deeds and sincerity of heart.
Prayer: Lord, help me to love others sacrificially and faithfully.
