Topic: PRAISE GOD WITH MUSICAL INSTRUMENTS
“Praise him with sounding of the trumpet… harp and lyre… tambourine and dancing… strings and pipe, praise him with resounding cymbals.” Psalm 150:3-5, NIV
Text: Psalm 150
Robert E. Webber in his book entitled “Enter His Courts with Praise” says, “Praise lies at the very centre of the created order and at the very heart of human existence. The whole created order and all its beings are to be ablaze with praise.” All kinds of instruments can also be used to express praise to the Lord.
Today’s passage reveals how the psalmist proclaims God’s might and acts of power. He acknowledges the surpassing greatness of our God and is thrilled to express his worship with musical instruments of all kinds. Sounds from instruments speak to us in worship. The Scripture declares that everything that has breath is meant to praise the Lord, for He is worthy of praise (vs. 6). Praise is an indispensable element in our worship. In praise, we acknowledge God’s worthiness and testify of His awesome saving deeds.
Without the connection of our heart in expressing praise with musical instruments, such praise is lifeless.
Does your life provoke others to worship the living God? Beloved, let your life reflect true worship that compels people to embrace the life of God, serve and glorify Him.
Insight: Praise is not in instruments, but expressed from our hearts with instruments.
Prayer: Lord, I am grateful for Your Word today. Clothe me with the garment of praise.
