SEEK DAILY (NBC) DAILY DEVOTIONAL OCTOBER 12, 2021 (DELIVERED FROM DARKNESS AND GLOOM)
TOPIC: DELIVERED FROM DARKNESS AND GLOOM
TEXT: PSALM 107:10-22
“Then they cried to the Lord in their trouble, and he saved them from their distress, he brought them out of darkness, the utter darkness, and broke away their chains.” Psalm 107:13-14, NIV
MESSAGE
A woman was kidnapped at gunpoint; her phones and other valuables were taken and she was driven to a thick forest in another vehicle. For three days, she did not eat but drank only one sachet of water. The woman then remembered a message on “the God of all possibilities.” She prayed to God, and there was an earthquake on the fourth day that confused the kidnappers. She was eventually set free.
The lives and journeys of the Israelites witnessed God’s unfailing love. He brought them out of darkness and doom, broke their chains and led them where no one had ever gone through. However, they became fools and suffered afflictions due to their repeated sinful activities. In their distress, they cried unto God and they were healed and delivered.
Darkness is associated with fear, terror, obscurity and uncertainty among others. Experiences in life can revolve around darkness but God sees and knows all things. The Lord that delivered people from prison, den of lions, and fiery furnace is still on the throne. He is active and will intervene, do not lose your confidence in God.
Insight: The people who walk in darkness will see a great light and the light will shine on them when God shows up.
Prayer: Lord, I pray for the grace to shine my light– Isaiah 60:1.
RBT Passage: Matthew 27-28
