MESSAGE
It is often said that the last words of a dying person seem to carry much weight and importance; therefore attention should be given to it. In the same vein, Jesus’ last recorded word to His disciples and the Church at large was “go and make disciples.”
Making disciples is a divine imperative.
The primary goal of Jesus’ command in today’s passage is to make disciples of all nations. We can achieve this command by “going,” “baptizing” and “teaching”.
Accompanying this command is the promise of God’s abiding presence with us till the end of time, enabling us to accomplish the task. The Church has the responsibility of making disciples who in turn make other disciples.
When churches reproduce disciples, it becomes easier to reach the unreached with the Gospel.
Beloved, making disciples is the summary of your job description as a believer in whatever professional line you find yourself.
Beyond getting people saved, we are to further work to strengthen and preserve them in the faith so that they can become lifelong disciples of Christ. Are you investing in people and helping them to know Jesus and grow in Him? Be encouraged to do your best.
Insight: When discipleship-making suffers, the life of the Church becomes normal rather than supernatural.
Prayer: Lord Jesus, empower Your church to be disciple-makers so as to reach all nations.
