SEEK DAILY (NBC) DAILY DEVOTIONAL FOR NOVEMBER 27, 2021 (PETER ENTERS CORNELIUS’S HOUSE)
Bible Text: Acts 10:23-33
TOPIC: PETER ENTERS CORNELIUS’S HOUSE
“He said to them: ’You are well aware that it is against our law for a Jew to associate with a Gentile or visit him. But God has shown me that I should not call any man impure or unclean. So when I was sent for, I came without raising any objection. May I ask why you sent for me?’” Acts 10:28-29, NIV
During the American civil war, Abraham Lincoln met with a group of ministers for a prayer breakfast. One of the ministers said, “Mr. President, let us pray that God is on our side”. Lincoln’s response showed far greater insight, “No, gentlemen, let us pray that we are on God’s side.”
To be on God’s side is to understand His will per time and be willing to follow through. It was a crime for a Jew to associate with a Gentile in the days of Peter in this passage, yet he went ahead to minister salvation in Cornelius’ house. He was not afraid of what men may do unto him. At the Word of God, he was ready to do anything. At the end, his obedience led to the conversion of many souls to the kingdom.
God never promised us that obedience to His instruction will always be easy, but promised to supply grace to follow through and a reward for everyone who obey. What instruction has God given you and you are afraid because it contradicts existing systems? Obey and trust God to see you through and give you a testimony.
Insight: Obeying God’s instruction against all odds brings great reward.
Prayer: O God, give me the grace to obey Your instruction(s) at all times.
