SEEK DAILY (NBC) DAILY DEVOTIONAL FOR JANUARY 15, 2022 (DEAD TO SIN)
TEXT: Romans 61-3
TOPIC: DEAD TO SIN
What shall we say, then? Shall we go on sinning, so that grace may increase? By no means! We are those who have died to sin; how can we live in it any longer?” Romans 6:1-2, NIV
student was nick-named “dead body” because of his uncompromising attitude to sin. Now he would always tell his colleagues, “I am dead to that lifestyle”. Yes, indeed all genuinely born again children of God are dead to sin and alive in the spirit in Christ Jesus. A child of God needs no announcement because his lifestyle will identify him. Those who are already dead to sin cannot continue to live in sin.
Jesus says by their fruits you shall know them (Matthew 7:16). The grace we have in Christ Jesus is not a licence for sin; it is grace to live in holiness. It is to make the world, through you know our Father and glorify Him in Heaven (Matthew 5:16). If truly you are a child of God, you should not abhor any form of sinful lifestyle. “No one who is born of God will continue in sin… This is how we know who the children of God are and who the children of the devil are: Anyone who does not do what is right is not God’s child, nor is anyone who does not love their brother and sister.”(1 John 3:9-10).
Insight: Anyone who continues in sin is not a child of God.
Prayer: Let Your Spirit continue to dwell in me 0 Lord that I may continue to live victoriously in righteousness.
