SEEK DAILY (NBC) DAILY DEVOTIONAL FOR DECEMBER 16, 2021 (DO JUSTICE, LOVE KINDNESS, WALK HUMBLY)
TOPIC: DO JUSTICE, LOVE KINDNESS, WALK HUMBLY
Bible Text: Micah 6:11-8
“He has shown you, o mortal, what is good. And what does the Lord require of you? To act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God.” Micah 6: 8, NIV
According to C. S. Lewis, “A Christian isn’t a man who never goes wrong, but a man who is enabled to repent”-
An official wrote an article that her boss counted offensive. The boss made the officer realize her mistake. The officer was sober, and asked for forgiveness. Her boss forgave her and she never repeated the mistake.
In today’s passage, the people are commanded to give audience to the Word of God. The message was very serious and impactful. It was to let the world know that God was not happy with His people. Sin begets controversies between God and man. The righteous God hates sin. They were directed to look into the past of the
Divine favour, when they were formed into a people and the great things God did for them (vv. 6-7). The people expressed their desires to be just; render to all their due; must not wrong anyone and must do right to all in all areas cheerfully.
They must live mercifully and delight in it, and walk humbly before God. God never deceives or disappoints us. He never does us wrong. Why then do we wrong and dishonour Him, and frustrate His expectations from us?
Insight: Humility attracts God’s attention.
Prayer: Lord, help me to live a life that honours You!
