SEEK DAILY (NBC) DAILY DEVOTIONAL December 3, 2021 (JESUS FULFILS THE LAW)
TOPIC: JESUS FULFILS THE LAW
Bible Text: Matthew 5:7-20
”Do not think that I have come to abolish the law or the prophets; I have not come to abolish them but to fulfill them” Matthew 5: 17, NIV
MESSAGE
There was a particular Baptist church being led by a church leader as assigned by the mother church. The leader introduced some programmes and the church members accepted. At the arrival of a new pastor, he also introduced new programmes. When the members complained, he explained that the new programmes will complement the existing ones.
Jesus spoke against the thought about Him having come to cancel and weaken the Old Testament. He asserts the importance of the law and that it never should be abrogated (vs. 18). Heaven and earth shall come together and all the fullness thereof be wrapped up in ruin and confusion, but none of the Word of God shall fall to the ground, or be in vain. Jesus gives it as a charge to His disciples, to carefully preserve the law and shows them the danger in neglecting it or treating it with contempt (vs. 19).
Those who encourage sin are the ones corrupting the Church, but those who live up to what they preach (as Christ did) are truly great. They honour God and God will honour them. Have you been disregarding the Law, thinking it is the old covenant? Every single one of God’s Law must be accomplished! Put your mind to the Laws of God so that you can keep them.
Insight: Jesus is the fulfillment of the law.
Prayer: Lord, help me to walk in consciousness of Your finished works.
