SEEK DAILY (NBC) DAILY DEVOTIONAL December 11, 2021 (THE KING REJOICES IN GOD)
TOPIC: THE KING REJOICES IN GOD
Text: Psalm 21: ”The king rejoices in your strength, Lord. How great is his joy in the victories you give.” Psalm 21:1, NIV
In Nigeria, there are jubilations of victory whenever any political contestant wins an election through voting or court judgment. Most times they praise God for His mercy, though there might be other underlying factors such as bribery.
In today’s psalm, David professed that his joy was in God’s strength and His salvation, and not in the strength or success of his armies. This passage reveals that all our blessings are not at all to any merit of ours, but purely and only to God’s goodness. Verse 5 says, “Through the victories you gave, his glory is great; you have bestowed on him splendour and majesty”.
The glory, which every good man is ambitious of, is to see the salvation of the Lord. The king cherished God for making him a universal blessing to the world. Also, the joy and confidence of Christ, our king, is the basis of all our joy and confidence.
Our Lord Jesus, in His great undertaking relied upon help from heaven and did not rely on His own strength. Likewise, every believer should key into God’s presence for an exceptional grace to excel and rejoice in Him as the only and true source of his strength and success.
Insight: The joy of the Lord is your strength!
Prayer: Lord, cause me to be joyful always!
